About SmashByte
SmashByte is a technology advisory marketplace. Businesses come to us when they need internet, phones, security, cloud, or infrastructure — and we help them compare the provider landscape and buy the right thing. Advisors are the front line of that: real people, talking to real businesses, figuring out what they actually need.
The opportunity
As an independent advisor, you build your own book of business. You find businesses with technology pain — an outdated phone system, internet that keeps dropping, a security posture held together with hope — and you help them fix it using SmashByte's provider ecosystem. When their solutions install and bill, you earn recurring commission on that revenue for as long as it stays.
This is an independent, performance-based opportunity — not a salaried role. What you build is what you earn.
What you'll do
- Talk with businesses about how they work and where technology gets in the way
- Identify pain: downtime, outdated phones, security gaps, runaway cloud bills
- Generate qualified opportunities and collect the details quoting requires
- Work with SmashByte and provider teams to design and price solutions
- Follow opportunities through install — and keep the relationship after
What you can learn to sell
Who this is good for
Working salespeople who want a second engine. Students and career-switchers who want to learn B2B technology sales with real training. Existing consultants and MSP salespeople who want a bigger catalog. Anyone ambitious enough to knock on doors and coachable enough to follow a playbook.
Tools and support
- TSI Hub: the full advisor platform — CRM, lead inventory, dialer, routes, pipeline, and your commission ledger
- Training tracks and certifications through the Academy, plus AI practice battles before you ever talk to a live prospect
- Quoting support and provider resources behind every opportunity
- Scripts, knock cards, and playbooks for the field
How compensation works
Advisors earn commission on the solutions their customers buy, with recurring shares on monthly services for as long as the account stays. On-target earnings for an advisor working the full playbook — field time, follow-up, and a maturing book of business — are $10,000+/month. That is an on-target figure, not a guarantee: amounts vary by opportunity, provider, product, and the applicable advisor agreement, and your results depend on the work you put in. We'll walk you through the specifics during onboarding, in writing. We don't promise incomes, and you should be suspicious of anyone who does.
Advisor compensation FAQ
What percentage of provider commissions does the advisor actually receive?
Advisors earn a recurring commission paid as a percentage of the customer's gross monthly recurring revenue (MRR), on a tiered schedule: 9.9% at Tier 3, where new agents start; 11.5% at Tier 4, reached after $5,000 in commission MRC; and 12% at Tier 5. On top of the recurring rate, Backup Internet products carry an upfront SPIF of 1x the monthly recurring charge when available. The full schedule is published at partners.smashbyte.com/commission-schedule.pdf.
Are commissions recurring for as long as the customer remains subscribed?
Yes — commissions are evergreen. They recur for as long as the customer remains on term; when the customer ends the term, that account's commission ends. A book built across accounts keeps paying month after month instead of resetting each quarter.
Which providers and products pay commissions?
Every solution sold through the platform pays a commission — connectivity, communications, security, cloud, data center, mobility and the rest of the portfolio. Exact rates and rules are supplier-specific and governed by the applicable agreements; the recurring tiers apply to gross MRR, and Backup Internet products additionally carry the 1x MRC upfront SPIF when available.
Are there minimum sales requirements?
No. There are no minimum sales quotas, no required hours, and no territory assignments. Advisors are 1099 independent contractors working full- or part-time on their own schedule; tier advancement is based on commission MRC, not activity quotas.
Is there an exclusivity requirement?
No. Advisors are 1099 independent contractors and are not required to sell exclusively through SmashByte.
What happens to commissions if you leave the program?
Commissions are evergreen — they follow the customer's term, not your activity level. As long as the customer remains subscribed on term, the recurring commission on that account continues per the agent agreement.
Are there chargebacks if a customer cancels?
Chargebacks apply when a customer cancels within 6 months. After that window, commissions on the account are simply evergreen until the customer ends the term. The detailed chargeback and cancellation rules are in the agent agreement you review during onboarding.
How much control does the advisor have over pricing?
None — and that is by design. Pricing comes from the carriers and providers through the quoting process. Advisors shape the solution, choose which providers bid, and run competitive quotes against each other, but rates are never set or marked up by the advisor.
Is there any upfront fee to become an advisor?
No upfront fees, machine costs, or anything. The TSI app can even run on your iPhone! No franchise fee, no training fee, no platform fee, no inventory — training, the hub, the Academy, and AI practice battles are all included.
The published commission schedule is at commission-schedule.pdf. The executed agent agreement governs where it goes further than the summary.
